Dr. Emma O’Keeffe has a post graduate diploma in clinical dermatology and has trained with the Aesthetic Training Academy Ireland. She provides anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.
Anti-wrinkle Injections:
Anti-wrinkle injections are a prescription only medicine, which are injected in tiny amounts into muscle, allowing it to relax the muscle and soften the wrinkles.
The treatment typically takes ten to fifteen minutes.
Anti Wrinkle injections begin to work as soon as day 2 but can take 14 days to see the full effect. Treatment results can last from 3-4 months but can last longer with subsequent treatments.
The following areas can be treated
- Frown lines: (between the eyebrows/glabellar lines)
- Forehead lines: Crow’s Feet
- Gummy smile
- Hyperhidrosis: (excessive sweating)
- Bruxism: (teeth grinding)
Side effects can include bruising, swelling and headache but these are temporary and usually mild.
After Care Anti Wrinkle Injections:
Immediately after the procedure you should avoid the following
- Rubbing/massaging the face
- Lying down for at least 4 hours
- Drinking Alcohol
- Hot showers/baths – Exercise
Dermal Fillers:
Dermal fillers are products that are injected into the lips to add volume.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance which helps to retain moisture, soften lines and add volume. Treatment time is approx 20-30 minutes. Results can last up to 6-9 months but can vary with individual patients.
After Care Dermal Fillers
Swelling and bruising are common after treatment
- Cold compresses can help with swelling immediately after the treatment
- Gently feel the lips for any lumps. If found apply gentle pressure to the area for 30 seconds, repeat several times a day for 2 days.
- If not resolving, contact the clinic.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat (e.g. saunas, hot yoga, sunbathing) for 48 hours as it can cause migration of the product.
- Swelling and bruising should settle within 7-14 days.
